The Role of Digital Financial Services in Humanitarian Crises Responses<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This\u00a0global roundtable organized by the Digital Financial Services Observatory @ CITI in New York, looked at how DFS provides assistance to refugees, those affected by natural disasters, and to those affected by disease outbreaks. It will cover the technical, humanitarian, operational, financial and donor perspectives of the responses, with case studies from Africa, the Carribbean, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crypto-economics: The Macro Effects of Digital Private Moneys and Payment Systems<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This two-hour video webinar aims to go beyond the well-covered topics of crypto- currency technology, policy, and players. It instead deals with the potential impact of such private and central bank issued digital payment mechanisms, if they take off, on the\u00a0macro- economy of countries, as well as the tools of central banks to conduct monetary policy and engage in economic stabilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are the new technologies an impediment to governmental controls \u2013 and what are the economic policy implications? Do they also provide new tools for macro policy, including governmental digital currencies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The webinar is part of CITI\u2019s project on \u201cThe New Technologies of Money\u201d, which is supported by the Columbia School for Public Affairs (SIPA) with support from the Nasdaq Educational Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
